Katherine Heigl has signed on to star opposite Ashton Kutcher in the Lionsgate thriller Five Killers.

The film reteams Heigl with helmer Robert Luketic, who most recently directed the “Grey’s Anatomy” star in upcoming romantic comedy The Ugly Truth.

The story kicks off when a woman meets the man of her dreams while on vacation. Married bliss is turned upside down when they discover that their neighbors may be assassins hired to kill them.

The film starts shooting next month in Atlanta and the south of France. (source)

Scribes Hired for Heigl’s Drawn Together
Fox 2000 has hired screenwriters Keith Merryman and David A. Newman to pen the Katherine Heigl action-comedy Drawn Together, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The trade adds that the studio would only say the film centers on an electronics designer who meets the woman of his dreams, only to find out that she’s not who she seems to be.

Heigl will star as well as produce with manager and mom Nancy Heigl under their Abishag production company.

Robert Kosberg and Bruce Nash are executive producing under Nash Entertainment.

Katherine Heigl Plans Escape

Variety says Katherine Heigl (27 Dresses, Knocked Up, “Grey’s Anatomy”) will star in and produce the feature film adaptation of “Escape,” the best-selling memoir of Carolyn Jessop, whose testimony helped convict polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs.

Relevant Entertainment and Como Court Productions acquired the book. Michael Menchel and Cat Williams will produce with Heigl and her Abishag partner Nancy Heigl.

Jessop was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints sect. At 18 she married a man 32 years her senior; at 35, she fled with her eight children.
